Ready to begin networking and planning a career in Diplomacy and Foreign Services? This career panel and networking opportunity brings together experienced practitioners who are working in and around diplomacy. 

Panelists will discuss their current jobs, give tips on “breaking into” their sector, and share job search insights. Refreshments will be served. 

Feature Panelists 

Tiffany L. McGriff is a career Foreign Service Officer in the Public Diplomacy career track with the U.S. Department of State. She currently serves as the Diplomat-in-Residence for the New York Metro Region, focusing on the State Department's Foreign Service and Student recruitment and outreach portfolios for New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Her previous foreign and domestic postings include serving as the Deputy Director for Strategic Communication and Outreach in the State Department’s Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation; an International Affairs Fellowship at the Council on Foreign Relations; Spokesperson and Acting Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya; Special Assistant to the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs; Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Juba, South Sudan; Country Desk Officer for Guinea-Conakry, Ghana, and Niger in the State Department's Bureau of African Affairs; Watch Officer in the State Department’s Operations Center; Duty Officer in the White House Situation Room; Political-Economic Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal; Consular and Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Luanda, Angola; and Special Assistant to the U.S. Ambassador in Pretoria, South Africa. McGriff has an M.A. in International and Intercultural Communication from the University of Denver and B.A. in Political Science from Howard University. She is a 1999 recipient of a Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation Foreign Affairs Fellowship (now known as the Thomas Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship) and interned as an undergraduate in the Washington, DC Congressional Office of late-Representative Donald Payne, Sr.

Evan Danaher is a Special Agent with the US Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS). He is currently assigned to the New York Field Office where he serves as the primary federal law enforcement liaison to the foreign Consulates and Missions to the United Nations in the New York area. Prior to returning to New York, he was stationed overseas as an Assistant Regional Security officer at the US Consulate General in Dubai, UAE, and the US Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. He also served short term assignments in Tripoli, Libya, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Evan began his DS career in the New York in 2012, tasked with conducting criminal investigations into passport and visa fraud and conducting protective security operations for US and foreign dignitaries. 

Before joining DSS, Evan served as an officer in the US Army with assignments in Iraq and Korea. He received a BA in Political Science from Loyola College (now Loyola University) in Maryland.
